The idea of humans as tiny fruit flies is the origin of the concept. A lifespan of a fruit fly ranges from 40 to 50 days; and the poems expanded on what the value of time meant in various ways. This ended up becoming a play on the words literally, as the illustrations of a strawberry and blackberry are accommodated by human figures that are flying.
